We are currently working on plans for a
large arboretum on the lower south east corner of our property.
We are hopeful that with the necessary approvals we will be
able to begin the creation of the arboretum within the next
twelve months. We plan to plant all of the plants from the
North Carolina Nursery and Landscape Association’s certified
plant list. Whether you are a NC Master Gardener or just interested
in seeing Ilex aquifolia in the landscape our goal is to create
a space of solitude and an opportunity to educate the community
upon the completion of the arboretum.
Behind the Lake Norman Garden building we hope to plant
a tiered showroom garden and a culinary herb garden within
a pleached hedge of European Hornbeams. Another garden
contained with a pleached hedge will be an English Cottage
Garden to show off the delight of perennials, annuals,
ornamental trees and shrubs in a soft and dreamy setting.
